Dr. Christopher Mensah Adosi
Research Fellow

Dr Christopher Mensah Adosi is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA), a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. He holds a PhD in Educational Leadership, a Master of Philosophy in Administration in Higher Education, and a Bachelor of Education in Management, all from the University of Cape Coast. He also holds a Professional Leadership Empowerment Academy Certificate from the University at Buffalo, New York, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Education Sector Planning from the International Institute for Educational Planning, Paris, France.

Dr Adosi’s academic and professional work focuses on educational leadership, school improvement, instructional leadership, competency-based education, education policy implementation, research methods in education, and student support services. His research is particularly concerned with how school leaders, middle-tier education actors and other stakeholders support teaching and learning, learner competency development, literacy improvement and education reform implementation in Ghanaian and African school systems. He is also passionate about strengthening student support systems and helping students to discover, develop and attain their full potential. His current research interests include distributed leadership, student leadership, stakeholder agency, education delivery approaches, innovative pedagogy, and teaching and learning in crisis-affected and disadvantaged educational contexts.

Before his appointment as a Research Fellow, Dr Adosi served as a Graduate Assistant and later as an Assistant Research Fellow at IEPA, where he contributed to the design, conduct and dissemination of several institutional, national and international research projects. His research experience includes work on transnational education partnerships, distance learning environments in Ghanaian higher education institutions, the placement and utilisation of IEPA graduates, education delivery systems, innovative pedagogy, school leadership and instructional improvement.

Dr Adosi has been involved in several major research and development projects. These include the ACSL School Leadership Research Grants project on distributed leadership across the middle-tier and public basic schools in Ghana and Kenya; a CODE-funded phenomenological study of stakeholder agency for quality literacy education in conflict-affected Bawku Municipality; a study on teaching and learning practices in flood-affected basic schools in the Volta Region of Ghana; the Education Commission’s DeliverEd study on delivery approaches and education outcomes; and the Ghana Country Brief on the Innovative Pedagogy Project.

His scholarly publications and research outputs cover education reform, delivery approaches, research partnerships, postgraduate student experiences, graduate tracer studies, culturally rooted leadership and decolonising education. Through these works, he contributes to debates on educational leadership, policy, planning, implementation and school-level improvement in Ghana and beyond.

Dr Adosi is also engaged in teaching, supervision, mentoring and academic assessment. He serves as an Examiner and Facilitator at IEPA and the College of Distance Education, University of Cape Coast, where he supports graduate teaching, research training, student supervision and learner development. He is a member of the University Teachers Association of Ghana and the Comparative and International Education Society.

Dr Adosi is committed to research, teaching and mentorship that strengthen educational leadership, improve teaching and learning, enhance student support services, and promote evidence-informed policy and practice in Ghanaian and African education systems.
