Course Description
The course deals with the administration and management of education within the context of the law of the land. It offers an overview of legislative, executive, and judicial action pertaining to education with a focus on: the rights of students; the rights of educational personnel; the responsibilities of school and state agency officials; gender equity and sexual harassment; legal problems of religious and private schools; legal aspects of the formulation of policy in schools; complementary methods for examining legal issues in education; and recent developments in education law. This course also offers a survey of statutes, acts, etc. relating to education. It also equips students with an understanding of how law affects the school environment and emphasizes the application of legal concepts to situations typically found in educational settings.
