THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA CONGRATULATES IEPA ON UNESCO CATEGORY II STATUS

President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, through the Minister of Education Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, congratulated the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) on the institute’s attainment of a UNESCO Category II status for the West African sub-region.

In a letter dated 16th November 2020, the President congratulated the Board, Management and Staff of IEPA on the successful attainment of Category II status. The Government of Ghana expressed its pleasure of working with IEPA to attain this great feat whilst advising that, this achievement should spur the Institute on to achieve greater heights in the country and the sub-region.

Finally, the Government further assured to support the Institute’s quest to become a strategic Centre of Excellence in educational research and the training of educational leaders, administrators and planners in the West African sub-region.

It is worth noting that the 40th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO on 15th November 2019 approved IEPA’s bid to become a Category II Centre of Excellence. Subsequently, Signing Ceremony took place at the UNESCO office in Paris on Thursday, 12th November 2020.

IEPA assures all its stakeholders of working assiduously within the confines of its new mandate to deliver excellence. It further pledges to align to the commitment of the West African governments to meet the international agenda for education (Agenda 2030) especially in meeting the SDG 4 which seeks to“ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
