Course Description
The purpose of this course is to help prepare school educators for their roles as educational leaders at the basic education level. It focuses on practical applications of education research, case studies and theory with special emphasis on the implications for practice in pre-primary, primary and secondary schools. The course also aims at assessing challenges faced relating to school or national education policy change and explores strategies to overcome them. Issues related to school culture and ways to develop the habit of leading continuous school improvement will be studied. This knowledge will also inform candidates on leadership in curriculum design, teaching strategies, student assessment practices, and the design of professional development for staff. Students will interact with school leaders at the basic level and community stakeholders in order to acquire real-life experiences.
