IEPA - CGD Collaborates on Research on the Impact of COVID -19 on Schools in Ghana

The COVID-19 pandemic had its toll on the affairs of the global population thereby challenging the so-called normal way of doing things. Most impactful for us in education fraternity and champions of provision of social justice is that beginning from March 2020 there was historic closure of schools as part of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Without doubt, just like many other countries across the world, Ghana’s education system and structures were impacted.

IEPA-UCC Signs MOU with APCEIU to Formalize Collaborations Towards the Implementation of SDG 4

The Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) at the University of Cape Coast has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) on promoting diverse collaborative activities for mutual benefit through cultural exchanges, information sharing, joint programme implementation, among others. 

IEPA Delegation Pays a Courtesy Call on The Minister of Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh

A delegation from the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in Accra. The meeting was planned to congratulate him on his new appointment as Minister of Energy, update him on the progress of IEPA since its upgrade to a Category II Institute of UNESCO (during his tenure as Minister of Education) and to present a citation of honour to him. 

IEPA Launched as a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence for West Africa

The Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) was officially launched as a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence for the West African sub-region by the Minister of Education, Honourable Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at a ceremony held on 16th June 2021 at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana.

IEPA & CGD Releases Study Findings to Suggests That WASSCE Exams may be Unfair for Candidates and Unreliable for Judging the Impact of Free SHS

The Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) in collaboration with the Center for Global Development (CGD) has released a study “Do high-stakes exams promote consistent educational standards?” that points to a strong relationship between WASSCE exam difficulty and student results. The research argues that it is changes in exam difficulty from one year to the next that explain most of the changes in WASSCE grade awards since 2011, at least for Core Mathematics.
